Delawhere? |

I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever spend quality time in the self proclaimed first state of Delaware. Coming from someone that was born in the tourist mecca of Oklahoma, Delaware has always been off my traveller’s radar when it comes to travel destinations on the east coast. Well, the opportunity came to celebrate the last days of Summer in Rehoboth Beach.  As expected, Delaware trudged along at a quieter, slower pace which I welcomed in a heart beat. Instead of long avenue blocks, long stretches of cornfields hurtled past my passenger-side window. Despite the harrowing journey to Delaware brought to you by our friends at the Double Happiness   Chinatown bus, my trip to Delaware was a welcome respite from my day-to-day life and hustle of New York. I love the NYC, but it is important to take necessary breaks from it to reflect, to recharge, to focus, and to  fall in love with the city all over again (read: tolerate being packed in a corner of the L train during rush hour).  My only gripe is that all the pictures I took on my trip did not save on my camera. So, I present to you my digital camera survivors:

1| L.E.S. Graffiti – I actually took a shot of the piece of art once we returned back to New York City. I do not have a clue about the artist or the impetus behind the work, but Michelle and I were drawn to this piece of art/graffiti. It can be found on the SE corner of East Broadway and Clinton Street in the Lower East Side.

2| A Day Shot of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware – Oddly enough, we spent more time in the restaurants and the boardwalk lining the way rather than the beach.

3| King’s Buffet, Dover, Delaware – Now, when we printed our bus tickets for Delaware.  Prior to our trip, I was a little surprised to learn from the Chinatown Bus company that our drop off point in Dover, Delaware would be at a nondescript Chinese restaurant right across the street from the Super 8 Motel (sketchy much).  I joked with Michelle that they bus drivers probably like eating there, so that is why the restaurant was the designated drop off spot. Lo and behold, the driver quickly left for the restaurant once we arrived in Dover.  We actually ate the restaurant when we arrived, and I have to say that this has the best Chinese Buffet this side of the Delaware River.  It didn’t hurt that the buffet is only $6.95 a person. Take that New York and your ridiculous food prices!

4| Rehoboth Beach, Delaware at Dusk – The one and only time that we ventured onto the beach. What was wrong with us?
