Spiderman Rickshaw |

When staying in New York begins to wear on me a bit, it’s guys like this that remind me why I love living here.  You will see things happen on these New York City streets that you would not come across anywhere else.

The (spider)man manning the rickshaw is Shaun Emerson, 30, who hails from Miami, Florida.  I know that I may be the last person to have heard about this guy, but I had to share anyway. Like any rickshaw or pedicab driver, Shaun works for tips from both locals and tourists.

Shaun comes to New York from Miami during the spring.  If you want to cross paths with him and possibly get a ride, your best chance of glimpsing his acrobatics and wall-crawling ability would be in the East Village or Lower Manhattan.  The video above was shot in the East Village.  Shaun has been a permanent fixture amongst the late-night crowd along St. Marks Place.  There have also been sightings of Shaun in Times Square, Union Square, and The West Village.

If you are attempting to quickly get from point A to point B, you may be better served by getting a traditional cab or pedicab.  But, If you have a moment for a once in a lifetime experience, seek out  Spiderman Shaun.
