A Day in the Life | Kojo Opuni

.Winter places my mind in a very pensive space. This is the space where my mind wanders in countless directions. Some days I get lost in thought. Some days, I find myself again. Sometimes, I do not mind residing here.  On other days, I look for an escape route.  Each day is different. The only constant is that I do not remain still in thought. I guess my friends would say that I have been a bit of a hermit of late. I do not wish to venture out in both mind and body very often.

Today, I left the warmth of my apartment to spend time with Michelle in her studio. I enjoy this space even though the walls are thin. This studio like many in Brooklyn is found in a very industrial area – where a space once reserved for industry becomes one for creativity – a safe haven for artists.  What appears to be a wasteland on the outside is truly a wonderland from within.

(outside) The picture you see above is the view outside Michelle’s studio. My eyes always follow the reds, grays, and faded sea greens.

(looking in)The picture you see below is Michelle at work. I try my best not to disturb her.
