Between midnights musings, reviews, and rants; I will talk about a novel that I am developing.  I will not put all the details online for fear of plagiarism, but I will share the process that I am taking to achieve this end.  I have the intention of completing a full draft of the manuscript on July 14th.  This date holds a bit of significance for me since it was my late brother’s birthday.  I wish to complete this novel not only for myself but to honor his life.

I will document the revalations, the pitfalls, and the signs along the path in this blog. This blog is new and I do not expect anyone to be reading these posts, so it is really for myself – I suppose.

A part of me is afraid. I do not know if I can complete this task, but I will try. For many years, I have been playing a story in my mind’s eye. Well, it’s bits and pieces of a story full of poignant moments, tragedy, redemption, transformation.  Sometimes, I simply do not have the words only the images.

I sometimes wonder are the images enough?  Will I eventually have the words to bring to life what I see and feel in my minds eye?  I once heard that C.S Lewis did not know the story for the Chronicles of Narnia beforehand. He only had images but no story. He simply looked for the means to weave all the images together, and his story came to the page and to life.

I exist withing several distinct worlds in my mind. If I were to convert those worlds into words, what would I have before me?

I do not know, but I will be stepping into an unknown this weekend.  I was working on a set of short stories, but the feeling is not there yet. I will change course today and focus on this world within my mind.

I know I am being a bit cryptic, but that is not my intention.  I will share more in time. It will be as much of a discovery for me as well as for you.

Let the quest and the first words begin.
